Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 27, 2026

Overview

Readpository ("we", "us", "the app") is designed with a privacy-first approach. Your reading data, notes, and personal information stay on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We do not collect, sell, or share your personal data.

Data We Collect

Readpository does not collect any personal data. Specifically:

  • No analytics tracking: We do not use any third-party analytics services.
  • No advertising identifiers: The app contains no advertising SDKs.
  • No user accounts: There is no registration, login, or account system.
  • No server-side data storage: We do not operate servers that store your data.

Data Stored on Your Device

All app data — including your book library, notes, tags, reading progress, settings, and captured images — is stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data framework. This data never leaves your device except through iCloud sync (if enabled) or your explicit export actions.

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync, your data is synchronized across your devices via Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account, encrypted in transit and at rest, and governed by Apple's privacy policies. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

Camera & Photo Library

Readpository requests camera access to capture pages for OCR text extraction. Photos are processed entirely on-device and are not transmitted to any external service. The app may also request access to your photo library to import images. These permissions can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.

Third-Party API Services

Readpository connects to the following external services:

  • Open Library API: Used to search for books and fetch metadata (titles, authors, cover images, ISBNs). Only your search queries are sent. No personal data is transmitted.
  • OpenAI / Anthropic APIs (optional): If you choose to use cloud-powered AI features (mind maps, flashcards, AI chat), your note text is sent to the selected AI provider's API. This requires you to provide your own API key, which is stored securely in the iOS Keychain. These features are entirely optional — on-device alternatives are always available.

Notifications

The app may request permission to send local notifications for daily reading reminders, achievement unlocks, and book completion celebrations. These notifications are generated entirely on-device. No push notification server is used.

Children's Privacy

Readpository does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not contain any data collection mechanisms.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
